Cairns & Tropical North Queensland
Cairns is a relaxed, modern, sophisticated tropical city with a cosmopolitan mix of residents and visitors. The population of the greater Cairns area is around 130,000 and the city has all the essential services and facilities you would expect to find in a medium sized Australian city.
The popularity of Cairns - aside from the naturally welcoming nature of the locals! - is based on the twin features of the accessible Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage-listed rainforests. It is said there are over 650 day tours, excursions and trips in Cairns!
There really is something for everyone here. Experience the warmth and hospitality of the locals and be pleasantly surprised by the relaxed but professional standards of service in our welcoming region.
Other places to explore in the Hinterland include the Cairns Highlands, a patchwork of farmlands, rainforest and lakes offering a cool rural retreat from the coast and the beachside hamlets that make up the southern corridor of Cairns, the Great Green Way.
From Cairns city, beaches stretch north along the coast including the popular boutique destinations of Palm Cove, Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation and Mission Beach and other quiet beach havens such as Trinity Beach and Yorkey's Knob. Off the coast, there are no less than ten of the Great Barrier Reef's premier islands!
